La Roque Est is a traditional French farmhouse situated among vineyards and just a short drive (and within walking distance) to Monségur town, and a 5-minute drive to Duras. Both small towns have restaurants, bars, bakeries, supermarkets etc.
While retaining its 'rustic charm' the house has recently been updated to create a comfortable family-friendly space.
Our French farmhouse is over 200 years old. It's great for families, groups, couples or the solo traveller, looking for a quiet stay but within easy reach of the lively small towns of Monségur and Duras.
Bedrooms: we have 3 good-sized bedrooms. It's important to note that 2 of the bedrooms are linked (you have to go through bedroom 2 to reach bedroom 3). This is perfect for families with young children. Bedroom 3 has two single beds and a cot and is suitable for children.
Bathroom: this features a small bath with shower over. Shampoo and shower gel are supplied.
Kitchen: You'll find everything you need here if you wish to self-cater. Dishwasher included. As well as fridge and freezer, coffee filter machine, washing machine, cooker with induction hob and 'Alexa' digital radio!
Sitting room: The television here has both English and French 'freeview' channels. You'll also find a DVD player. We have a selection of games for adults (Trivial Pursuit and Cluedo among them), and there is a good selection of young kids' toys (here and in bedroom 3), as well as DVDs and books.
Dining room: dining table here with bench seating.
There is also a downstairs toilet.
Bedding and towels are supplied.
Outside space: we have a great veranda wrapped around the house which gets a lot of use come rain or shine. You can sit here and enjoy the view in a little shade, or make full use of the view on the over-sized decked area where you have views of the neighbouring vines and in the distance the Château de Duras. We have an aluminium extendable dining table and 8 chairs and a sun umbrella.
There are lots of toys for kids (including ride-on digger, cars and bikes), plus a swing ball set.
"Treeland" is a small wooded area in front of the house which provides a great place to play hide and seek and generally to run around! Or to enjoy some peace in the shade.
We have a stone BBQ with utensils.
If you would like to bring pets please discuss with us prior to booking. We have a good-sized area to the left of the house which is covered and comfortable and has a kennel, so well-behaved pets are welcome. But note the garden is not enclosed.
Guest access: All parts of the house and gardens are for you to use exclusively during your stay. The barn attached to the rear of the house is not to be used for any reason for reasons of safety, thank you. We often have the neighbours' cows in our field. The field is kept separate to the garden with an electric fence.
