Positive: The host is an amazing person that prepared all the detailed instructions for us - food, transport, etc. I usually find these instructions unnecessary, but this time they really helped and it was a great touch. The apartment is actually lived in - so it is super comfortable to stay in it, and the mattresses are actually decent quailty (my back says thank you!) The location is great too: yes, you're not in Bilbao, but that's the whole point. However, you can catch a metro (1.6 eur per ticket and ~15 min travel time) - boom, you're in the middle of Bilbao old town. All the necessary utensils and devices were available for living and cooking. Lots of supermarkets a walking distance from the apartment. Overall, highly recommended and a great experience!

Negative: Nothing negative at all! I can see how this might be a bit too far if you plan to stay in Bilbao - but we wanted to specifically stay outside of the busy city, and this is hands down the best option we've found in Portugalete. It's also on the 2nd floor (or 3rd if you count the ground floor) without the elevator: didn't bother us at all, but I can see how this could be important information to some people.

Summary: A very clean and nice looking apartment 2 min walk from Bilbao's extensive metro system
