Enter the stone building and leave your coats in the porch before stepping into the cosy lounge. Here you can spark up the wood burner, housed within a raw brick fireplace, then sink into the sofa, perhaps reading quietly or popping something on the TV for entertainment. The well-equipped kitchen-diner has an appealing green theme and is great for cooking and eating yummy meals using local produce you’ve picked up at Hawes market (5.5 miles, Tuesdays). Upstairs, two beautifully decorated double bedrooms and a bathroom complete the inside space. History aficionados will be eager to check out the 14th-century Castle Bolton (7 miles) and Grinton smelt mill (11.5 miles).
